SEATTLE, Wash. — Veteran marine writer Charles Plueddeman, editor at large for Boating magazine, will contribute a weekly column to boats.com. Plueddeman's first column will appear Thursday, January 11. Called "The Outboard Expert," his column will provide the latest information on new outboards and outboard-related products such as propellers and brackets, as well as offer maintenance and how-to suggestions.
"To have someone with Charlie's depth of knowledge, technical savvy, accuracy and writing ability contribute to boats.com is invaluable," said Matt Trulio, powerboat editor for boats.com. "Charlie's work is as good as it gets, and he stays current with the latest new models and useful technical information. Our visitors are going to find his column very, very useful."
Plueddeman has been reporting on the marine industry since 1986, when he joined the staff of Boating magazine as an associate editor. In 1988 he was the founding editor of Boat Magazine, a sister publication to Boating serving the small-boat market. His work on a wide variety of subjects has since appeared in Playboy, Men's Journal, Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, Yachting, Outdoor Life, Maxim, Cargo and other national publications.
A three-time award winner in the Boating Writers International Annual Writing Contest, Plueddeman has piloted outboard-powered boats from the Florida Keys to Alaska and "dinged a prop" in each time zone. He remains, as the expression on his business card reads, "A Good Man to Have Along."
